B&C Morning Show: Jose Reyes' Last Dance
Boomer & Craig had plenty to get to on this busy Wednesday edition of The Extravaganza, with the MLB playoffs mere days away and the Jets and the Giants preparing for their Week 4 match-ups.
They began things talking about all of the happenings on the baseball diamond last night, where the Yankees lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 and the Red Sox held off the Orioles 8-7. That win-loss combination sets up a tie between the Rays and the Sox for the AL wild card with just one game remaining for each.
Same scenario in the NL as the Braves and the Cardinals go down to the wire.
As for the Mets, their season concludes this afternoon at Citi Field against the Reds. Obviously neither the 'Not So Amazins' nor the Reds are playing for any kind of playoff spot, instead they are just playing out the string.
Well. all except Jose Reyes, who after collecting 3 hits last night (2 home runs), took a one point lead on Ryan Braun for the NL batting title. Reyes is currently hitting .336, while the Brewers slugging left-fielder is batting a cool .335. The Mets play the Red this afternoon at Citi Field, while the Brewers play the Pirates tonight, first pitch at 8:10 p.m.
So Reyes' pursuit of the Mets' first-ever batting title and the idea that, according to Craig, this afternoon's game will be the All-Star's last in a Mets uniform, made the Amazin's relevant once again. The guys also discussed the club picking up the option on Terry Collins for the 2013 season and some good news on the Bernie Madoff/Irving Picard front.
So there's all of that and Craig's conflicted t-shirt (pictured) which prompted Boomer to once again call Craig's loyalty into question...
