B&C Morning Show: Jim Abbott Provides Inspiration In The Allstate Studio

Boomer & Craig were happy to welcome former Yankees hurler Jim Abbott into the Allstate Studio this morning so that he could promote his new book: 'Imperfect: An Improbable Life,' which went on sale today. He talked about his amazing journey to the big leagues and beyond.

Abbott, as you probably know, was born without a right hand, but he didn't let that stop him from accomplishing great things both on and off the field.  The shining moment of his baseball career came on September 4, 1993. While pitching for the Yankees, he threw a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians.  Abbott got to hear the radio call of the final out for the first time, as described by the one and only John Sterling.

Abbott talked about that game in detail, as well as what it was like growing up with just his left hand and why he believes it made him stronger.  He said there was nothing like winning gold for the USA in the 1988 Olympics (albeit baseball was a 'demonstration' sport in '88).

Abbott also told the story about how something his daughter said to him, which in turn motivated him to write his book.  All in all it was a very motivational chat, which was a stark contrast from the interview Boomer & Craig conducted on Friday with Tiger Woods' former swing coach Hank Haney...
