B&C Morning Show: Jerry's Update Is Thorough And Entertaining
Jerry began his first update of the week getting us up to speed on the latest from the NFL lockout, which appears close to being over.
The Yankees beat the A's 7-5 in rather curious fashion as far as the Yankees are concerned. Bartolo Colon pitched well enough to get the win, his 7th of the season and first win after the All-Star break since 2005 - coincidentally the year Colon won the AL Cy Young Award. Mariano Rivera allowed 4 hits and 1 run but still managed to nail down the save, his 25th of the year. We heard from Curtis Granderson and David Robertson following the Bomber's victory.
The Mets welcomed back David Wright from the DL and then lost 2 of 3 to the Marlins despite a solid weekend from their 28 year-old third baseman. Wright hit a go-ahead home run in the 7th only to see Bobby Parnell blow it in the 8th. We got to hear from Parnell and his manager Terry Collins, who sounds as if he is starting to get used to this...
