B&C Morning Show: Boomer Concerned With Wright At Third; Jerry's Update
A lot has been made of David Wright's prowess with the bat thus far this season -- he is currently hitting .350 with 6 HRs and 36 RBIs in 59 games, and the Mets are winning. So the praise hurled his way has certainly been well-deserved.
Now, Wright's defense at third, that has been a different story entirely. Just ask R.A. Dickey.
Boomer said Wright's shaky play at third should be a real source of concern moving forward, while Craig is choosing to focus on the impressive offensive numbers.
Jerry Recco's only concern was delivering a top-notch update - which to a grizzled update vet like Jerry, is old hat. Jerry began with Dickey & the Mets, who won their second in a row over the Rays and by doing so moved into tie with the Braves for second place in the NL East, trailing the Nats by five games.
Terry Collins has been named to Tony La Russa's staff for the NL All-Star Game and Craig has a big problem. Not with Collins being on the staff, the Mets skipper has certainly earned the honor. Craig's problem with La Russa, who retired after managing the Cards to a World Series title last season, managing the NL squad.
The Yankees were helped by the Mets victory over the Rays and the Bombers returned the favor by taking care of the Braves 3-2. The Yanks now hold a 2 game advantage over Tampa for 1st in the AL East and after a night off, will look to help the Mets out some more when they travel to Washington to take on the red-hot Nationals. The Mets will play a day game with the Ray, before coming home to take on the Reds.
Plus, Matt Cain tosses a perfect game and strikes out 14 while doing so for the Giants, David Stern & Jim Rome have a heated exchange, Zach Parise has no interest in becoming a Ranger and Phil Mickelson is very excited to play with Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open...
