B&C Morning Show: American Hero Melissa Stockwell With Boomer & Carton

Melissa Stockwell (pictured above presenting President George W. Bush with a framed American Flag) is a former US Army officer and became the first female soldier to lose a limb in the Iraq War.  Melissa lost her left leg when  a convoy she was leading in Baghdad was victimized by a roadside bomb. For her duty she was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Stockwell was chosen to compete in the 2008 Summer Paralympics, where she competed in three swimming events and was the team's flag bearer at the closing ceremonies.  Since then she captured a world title at the 2010 Paratriathlon World Championship in Beijing.

Craig learned about Melissa and her inspiring story while watching the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament on CBS. She was part of an ad campaign for "The Hartford," and he told Al Dukes to get her on so she could tell her story.  She joined the guys today to talk about her athletic feats and her life-changing experience in Baghdad.
