B&C Morning Show: A.J. Answers The Call, Yankees Force Game 5
With their backs against the wall and their season on the line, the Yankees' fate rested on the right arm (and what's between the ears) of the $84-million-dollar-man, A.J. Burnett.
Then - to just about everyone's surprise - the inconsistent right-hander escaped some 1st inning trouble, thanks in-part to a wonderful catch by Curtis Granderson, and the Bombers live to play another day. That day is Thursday and the venue will be in the Bronx.
Boomer & Craig entered the Allstate Studio this morning prepared to break it all down and that is just what they did, beginning with the performance of Burnett, who - for the time being anyway - endeared himself to Yankees fans.
Curtis Granderson's name came up as well, as he was money with the leather and with the bat - making two spectacular catches and driving in a run with a double in the 5th that gave the Yankees a 3-1 cushion. The rest of the bats woke up as the Bombers exploded for 6-runs in the 8th on their way to a 10-1 victory.
The stage is now set for Game 5 in the Bronx tomorrow night and the Yankees will put their fate in Game 1 winner, rookie Ivan Nova, while the Tigers will counter with Doug Fister, who Craig thinks the Yankees should knock around.
Then Boomer started 'counting the money' if you will, when he began to speculate how Joe Girardi might set his rotation for the Yankees' ALCS rematch with the Texas Rangers, who disposed of the Rays yesterday afternoon. Craig warned his radio partner about looking ahead, but the Blonde Bomber said he is confident the Yankees will win Game 5.
Then we learned about the 'adam-ball' or 'at 'em ball' and Boomer reminisces about an unforgettable moment on the baseball diamond...
