5 NJ Teens Indicted In Fatal Beating
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- A grand jury in central New Jersey has indicted five teenagers on murder charges in the beating death of a man who was attacked while out walking with his family.
The Middlesex County grand jury handed up the 11-count indictment Wednesday.
The defendants, ages 16 through 18, are charged in the death of 49-year-old Divyendu Sinha of Old Bridge.
Sinha's two sons also were assaulted in the June 25 attack, which prosecutors called a purposeless wilding spree.
The alleged attackers initially were charged as juveniles, but the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office got court permission to try them as adults. At a hearing last month, all five pleaded not guilty.
