2 Arrested After Police Seize Over 50 Pounds Of Pot In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD seized over 50 pounds of marijuana in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

Authorities said police officers on patrol in the area of 92 Street and 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge witnessed two men exchange suitcases before getting back in their respective cars and driving off.

When the officers pulled the cars over, police said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicles.

Police said one of the suspects told the officers during questioning that there was marijuana in the suitcases. A search turned up two bags with about 20 pounds of marijuana in each, officials said.

Cocaine was also discovered in the center console of one of the vehicles, police said.

The two suspects -- identified as 31-year-old Adham Deeb and 34-year-old Majdi Mansoor -- were placed under arrest.

Police said one of the suspects then admitted there was more marijuana at an apartment on West 28 Street.

A search of the apartment turned up 11 more pounds of pot as well as two mason jars of marijuana, two scales, and a notebook containing financial transactions, authorities said.

Deeb and Mansoor are charged with criminal possession of marijuana. Deeb faces an additional charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
