1/23 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia & Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologists/Weather Producers

Let's get right to it folks - a significant and powerful snowstorm is bringing the first major snowfall of the season. It only took until the end of January! It'll be very cold and very windy - and the winds will combine with snow to drastically reduce visibility - creating blizzard conditions.

NL9_Alert_Winter_Weather

Snow will be moderate to heavy at times, with a few periods of lighter snow...but the main thing to expect rounds of heavier bursts of snow through the evening, and maybe even some thunder! Good chance that we'll add double digits worth of snow by the end of the storm.

JL Snowfall Forecast III

Snow will wind down overnight and it looks to be clear of the Twin Forks before daybreak. Tomorrow will still be windy - not as intense though - so there will be snow blowing around, still keeping visibility down. Take it slow if you're venturing outside, and dress warmly when you dig out!

Looks like the week ahead will be much quieter in comparison, which is welcome news for those dealing with the blizzard today. Stay warm and dry everybody!
