10/2 CBS2 Friday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Make sure you have the rain gear ready as you head home to kick off the weekend. Rain will continue to move across the region, becoming moderate to heavy at times this evening. We've most likely already hit our high earlier in the morning, and temps will hang in the low to mid 50s for the rest of the afternoon.

Not a tremendous amount of rain, but the bigger story will be the winds. It's the winds gusting up to 40-50 mph along the coast that's prompting the coastal flooding concerns. And even after the rain becomes more scattered tomorrow, the gusty winds will continue.

Moderate coastal flooding is expected, especially during high tides along the New Jersey coast.Sunday is looking like a mainly cloudy day with a chance of a few sprinkles. The models continue to be in agreement that Joaquin will be staying away from the coast, but we'll continue to monitor any changes this weekend.
