Sunday: Newt Gingrich, Bernie Sanders

The results of the presidential election shocked much of the country and the world, but what will the victorious Republicans and President Trump actually accomplish? And where do the Democrats go from here? We’ll unpack that and more this Sunday on “Face the Nation.”

We’ll talk with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who was one of Trump’s most visible surrogates on the campaign trail and is rumored to be on the short list for a top job in the administration. How does he think Trump will approach the business of governing? And what can Trump do to calm the furious protests in several major cities and help bring the country together?

We’ll also talk with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who lost the Democratic primary to Hillary Clinton even as he claimed he would be the stronger candidate to face Trump in the general election. What did the Democrats miss? What’s his vision for the future of the party? And does he see any areas of potential cooperation with a Trump administration?

With the chaos of the campaign now behind us, we’ll sit down with the CBS News digital journalists who were embedded with the campaigns about the 2016 election – the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Jacqueline Alemany, Kylie Atwood, Erica Brown, Sopan Deb, Hannah Fraser-Chanpong, Sean Gallitz, and Alan He will join us in studio to discuss what they saw in America throughout their assignment.

Finally, as always, we’ll wrap up the stunning week that was, and we’ll look ahead to the political horizon with an expert panel. This Sunday’s panelists are the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson, Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, who’s also a CBS News contributor, and Slate Magazine’s Jamelle Bouie, who’s also a CBS News political analyst.

It’s going to be an exciting broadcast, so make sure you tune in! Check your local listings for airtimes.
