Gophers Headed To Fifth Straight NCAA Women's Frozen Four

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota is heading to the NCAA Women's Frozen Four for the fifth straight year.

The No. 3 seed Gophers will play rival Wisconsin in the national semifinals this Friday in Durham, New Hampshire. They beat Princeton at home in the quarterfinals to advance, behind three goals from Amanda Kessel.

This is the 12th time in 16 years since the NCAA started sanctioning the sport that Minnesota has reached the Frozen Four. The Gophers have won three of the previous four national championships.

No. 1 seed Boston College will play Clarkson in the other semifinal game. The winners meet Sunday for the title.
