The Twin Cities and other parts of the state are getting soaked this week.

The bulk of the rain began Monday evening. Tuesday will have steady, wind-whipped rain that should help with the dry ground, with highs falling to around 50. Windy conditions may make it feel miserable to be outside.

The showers should clear out at some point on Wednesday.

Thursday and most of the Memorial Day weekend look dry and warmer, with temperatures back to 70 by Sunday.

Potential rainfall totals

The highest rainfall totals from this week's rain will likely be down south, with south central Minnesota in for possibly 3 inches. Southeastern Minnesota should see between 1 and 2 inches.

The Twin Cities could see as much as 2 inches, with totals highest for communities in the southwest metro.

Totals decrease the farther north you go. Communities from Brainerd to the north will see less than an inch or possibly no rain at all.
