MINNEAPOLIS — The longest stretch of consecutive below-average days the Twin Cities have had this winter stands at seven (Jan. 2-8), and that stretch has been matched as of Monday.

Below-average days will continue, unabated, for around 11 more days, with one of the coldest nights on Monday evening. Lows will range between minus 10 and minus 20, but thankfully there will be little wind.

Cold weather advisories are in effect Monday night in areas west and north of the metro. There's a small chance that parts of the metro will be included by morning.

The only nights the metro will spend above zero will be Thursday and Friday.

Daytime highs over the next week will generally be in the single digits, and subzero mostly up north. Friday will be the one milder day, reaching briefly in the 20s.

Minor snow chances will line up with a parade of storms tracking south of the metro late Monday. A similar scenario will play out late in the day Wednesday and could clip areas as far north as the metro with a dusting.

Friday looks to bring the best chance for 1-2 inches of snow to the metro, but this isn't certain yet.
