Fatal DWI crash in White Bear Lake under investigation, one in custody

Officials are investigating a fatal crash in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, that happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to officials, the White Bear Lake Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies were called to a crash between a car and a motorcycle near Highway 61 and Highway 96. Once on scene, the officers found a 31-year-old woman with injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died from her injuries, according to police.

A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired. According to the charges, the man told troopers he was turning left on onto Highway 96 and had a yellow arrow. He told troopers he did not see the motorcycle, per the court documents. 

Court documents state that his eyes were bloodshot and watery, he performed poorly on sobriety tests and had poor balance. The charges also state that he had a .27 blood alcohol content level at the time, which is more than three times the legal limit. 

Court records show the 63-year-old will make his first court appearance on Friday.
