Braemar Golf Dome In Edina Collapses After Fire
EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) – The Braemar Golf Dome in Edina has been closed indefinitely after an early-morning fire caused the dome to collapse, according to police.
Fire crews were called to the indoor practice range on the 7400 block of Braemar Boulevard at about 6:10 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, a fire caused the dome to be partially deflated, a water leak and the apparent smell of gas, authorities said.
Edina Fire Marshal Tom Jenson said the fire may have started in the northwest corner of the facility, which burned a hole inside the dome. The fire then spread to a hill behind the dome and eventually burned itself out before fire officials arrived.
Authorities said water and gas lines were dislodged from the clubhouse when the dome collapsed. The water, gas and electricity have all since been turned off while crews investigate at the scene.
What caused the fire to start is still under investigation at this time. The facility is closed until further notice. It had been scheduled to remain open until April 1.
