Sports Illustrated Ranks Canes Hoops No. 25 in Nation

The Miami Hurricanes' football team may be clinging to lady luck in their bid for their first ever ACC Championship, but their basketball team has some lofty expectations set before them heading into the 2015-16 season.

Sports Illustrated ranked every team -- from 350 to 1 -- today via their College Basketball Projection System, which takes into account offensive efficiency, defensive efficiency, and more.

Miami came in at 25th with a projected offensive efficiency of 20th, defensive efficiency of 55th, and a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Not bad for the fifth squad under Jim Larranaga at Miami.

The Canes went 25-13 last season, failing to make the NCAA Tournament but did finish as the NIT Runner-up. They return four starters (three seniors) in Sheldon McClellan, Angel Rodriguez, Tonye Jekiri, and Davon Reed.

Miami opens their season a week from Friday at home against UT-Rio Grande Valley.

SI's Top 5 are North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, and Maryland. Four ACC teams are in the Top 10.
