The rain brought by the passing storm helped crews get a handle on the Fairview Fire.
The fire was first reported at around 1:30 p.m. and quickly engulfed more than 10 acres of cardboard and other materials in an unincorporated part of Riverside County.
The investigation appears to involve shootings between the occupants of two vehicles at North Waterman Avenue and East Baseline Street.
Kay appears to be finally breaking the state's hottest and longest-lasting heat wave in recent memory.
"We know it's been hot for too long, but if you need to cool off or your truck overheats, we don't recommend driving it into a pool!" Menifee police joked.
