In a move hailed as an effort to right a nearly century-old wrong, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to return ownership of a pristine piece of Manhattan Beach seaside property to the descendants of a Black family who had the land stripped away nearly a century ago.
The driver, a man in his 40s, drove his vehicle through the glass facade of a building on Orange Grove Avenue before attempting to drive away from the area.
The crash occurred on the southbound lanes near the Anaheim Street offramp, where a Sigalert was set to last for several hours as the investigation continued.
Authorities said that despite his vehicle rolling several times, the suspect was able to run from the area on foot.
Sky2 over the scene showed nearly two dozens patients evacuated from the building, lying in their hospital beds in the parking lot of the rehabilitation center.
Three people were arrested for suspect assault with a deadly weapon as authorities continued to investigate the incident. Two of the stabbed patients were said to be in stable condition.
Authorities found who they believe to be the victim, a 40-year-old woman, and the suspect, a 40-year-old man, dead at the scene just before 12:30 a.m.
