Angie Thomas' debut novel, "The Hate U Give," not only became a New York Times bestseller, but also a critically acclaimed film. Now she's out with a new novel, "On the Come Up." Thomas joins "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King in the Toyota Green Room to discuss how she came to realize her childhood dreams.

The critically acclaimed movie “The Hate U Give” follows a teenager's journey to find her voice after she witnesses a white police officer shoot her best friend. The film was adapted from author Angie Thomas' debut novel of the same name. Thomas' highly anticipated follow-up novel, "On The Come Up," is out Tuesday. It tells the story of 16-year-old Bri, an aspiring rapper who is trying to make it to support her family. 20th Century Fox has already announced it will be adapted into a movie. Thomas joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss her message to publishers and why Bri represents so many young black women.
Grammys launch inclusion task force
Super Bowl performers Maroon 5 are among the latest artists to team up with the Grammys to try to end gender inequality in the music industry. More than 200 managers, labels and artists, including Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett and Katy Perry, are joining the new Producer and Engineer Inclusion Initiative. It will work to increase opportunities for women in these fields. The push for diversity will also include people of color and the LGBTQ community. Tina Tchen, chair of the Recording Academy Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion, spoke to “CBS This Morning” about the importance of diversity leading up to Sunday’s Grammys.
