Snow will slam parts of Colorado through Saturday
UPDATE: Tire shops in Aurora packed with customers in snowy Colorado conditions
Steady snow is creating slick driving conditions in the Denver area. And there's more snow on the way...
A low pressure system is slowly tracking to the north and east, resulting in steady snow across much of eastern Colorado. Winter Weather Advisories (purple) and Winter Storm Warning (pink) have been issued through this evening. An additional 2-8" is expected across the Palmer Divide, 4-10" across I-70 with lighter amounts to the north.
Difficult to impossible travel is expected through Saturday morning across southern Colorado. Up to 36" of snow is possible from Walsenburg to Trinidad. This slug of moisture will continue moving north, bringing travel impacts to northern I-25 by Friday afternoon/evening.
A brief lull is expected across much of northern Colorado ahead of major accumulations tomorrow.
Some ski resorts had been struggling to open because of warm temperatures and the lack of snow before this storm. Now Eldora opens Thursday. Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, and Winter Park will open tomorrow. Loveland is scheduled to open on Saturday.
