Protests near the United Center in Chicago caused some trying to attend the DNC from being able to get to the arena on time.
In 1996, the DNC took place in Chicago, with the Reverend Jesse Jackson speaking. On Monday night, he will be recognized for his decades of service. His son, Rep. Jonathan Jackson, will join him on stage.
Protesters who took part in the march said they ran into agitators throughout their route, while elsewhere, one person interrupted our live report and said, "The police were agitators." Dave Savini, Tara Molina, and Jermont Terry are live at various points on the route.
Shortly before the kickoff to the festivities on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, the delegates were cheery inside the United Center in Chicago.
For anyone living around the United Center, getting around has gotten complicated in recent days.
Chicago police say that a 21-year-old man was driving a white truck when a collision occurred with a black truck. Someone from the black truck then fired shots – striking the victim.
