Pierre Johnson was shot three times and while on the porch of an abandoned building. A total of five people were shot in the incident, and shooters also exchanged gunfire with police. CBS 2's Tara Molina reports.
According to Chicago police, a group of people fired shots at another group in the 4200 block of South Wells Street just after 8:20 p.m. An armed man later fired shots at police, and police said an officer shot back. CBS 2's Tara Molina reports.
Two suspects fled the scene after the shooting near Lexington Drive and Lee Lane, and police were asking people in the area to shelter in place while they conduct a search.
The boy was taken to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.
The suspects are two boys, one 16 and the other 17 years of age, and were charged as adults.
