The crime scene is near homes, and neighbors described hearing 10 gunshots.
The shooting happened in the 6800 block of South Hermitage Avenue in West Englewood.
A man is shot while outside in the Englewood neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Tyshon Brownlee is charged with one count of attempted murder and five counts of armed robbery, according to Cook County prosecutors.
Tyshon Brownlee has been charged in a string of robberies around Lincoln Park and Lakeview. CBS 2's Marissa Perlman reports.
Dakotah Earley, who was critically injured and still can't speak, had to identify Brownlee using a photo and a thumbs-up. CBS 2 Investigator Megan Hickey reports.

Illinois State Police said shots were fired around 1:45 a.m.
Dakotah Earley was shot and critically wounded in the robbery earlier this month.
"I just assumed that someone was, you know, screwing around – slamming doors or something – and then a few minutes later, I heard hotel security outside the room, and so then, I step outside, and then I saw the shooting victim right outside my door," guest Beni Rincon said.
"I'm urging parents, guardians, and responsible adults in the lives of children to make sure that you know what the rules are, and that you make a plan with your children and young people," Lightfoot said.
For the young men in the program at Gary Comer College Prep in Grand Crossing, losing their classmate Seandell was like losing a brother.
Seandell, 16, was part of a program to keep young men out of violence. CBS 2's Steven Graves spoke to his classmates Monday.
