"There's no reason that there should be a feeling danger looming at any event that should be safe for a family," Laura Chaimson said.
"At this time, the doctors do not believe that he suffered any brain damage or cognitive impact from the shooting," a family spokesperson said.
Services will be held Friday for three of the victims of the Highland Park shooting.
