Their quest to get handicapped parking in front of their building is finally over. It started more than two years ago with phone calls and letters - and no action - until now.
"You have people coming in with wheelchairs, you know? It's not safe for little kids."
At Will's Place in downtown Skokie, the motto is "Where there's a will, there's a way." Almost everyone who works there has developmental challenges, even the boss.
"It is completely life-changing for him."
Special needs students have the opportunity to train and work at the store, preparing them for their future.
"I witnessed a lot of pillowcases over the heads of individuals. Strangling them. Choking them, preventing them from going to 1the bathroom. Taking their meals away, so that they couldn't eat."
Her attorney argues that 401k money is not accessible for someone her age. So it shouldn't be counted against her.
"I'm not just standing up there teaching. They are teaching me a lot of stuff, too."
