Valentine: Crawford Doing Better
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox left fielder Carl Crawford's sore left wrist is improving, according to manager Bobby Valentine.
"Saw Carl this morning," Valentine told reporters from Jupiter, Florida where the Red Sox are taking on the Cardinals this afternoon. "He said he felt very good. He's not experiencing any pain. We're going to all meet tomorrow morning and figure out a nice plan so he doesn't overdo it on his way back."
Crawford remained in Fort Myers on Thursday for more treatment and rest. He was shut down on Monday after experiencing inflammation in his surgically repaired wrist and was expected to take up to a week off. Crawford admitted he may have been working too hard to come back from the injury, and aggravated it during bunting drills.
It is still unclear if Crawford will be ready for opening day on April 5. He said earlier this week he would not set a timetable for his return.
