A Realistic Off-Season Plan For The Celtics

After a ton of scenarios and rumors, here's a realistic example of what the Boston Celtics would be able to due this off-season.  This is called the "Status Quo" Plan.  Enjoy!

Plan for the 2010 Boston Celtics

#1: Sign Paul Pierce to a 3-year/$45 Million deal through 2012-2013 season

#2: Sign Ray Allen to a 2-year/$22 Million deal through 2012-2013 season

#3: Sign Tony Allen to a 3-year/$10 Million deal through 2012-2013 season

#4: Buy out Rasheed Wallace's contract for $6 Million (on books for 2010-11)

#5: Sign Luke Harangody and Avery Bradley to rookie contracts (~$2.5 Million); Harangody a 2-year deal, as well as a standard rookie deal for Bradley (2 guaranteed and two TO)

#6: Sign PG Shaun Livingston to Veteran Minimum Deal ($1.3 Million)

#7: Sign SF Travis Outlaw to a 2-year/$4.16 Million Deal (1st Year - $2 Million; 2nd Year – 2.16 Million) through 2011-2012 Season*

#8: Sign C Brad Miller to a 3-year/$13 Million (1st Year - $4 Million; 2nd Year - $4.32 Million;  3rd Year - $4.66 Million) *

#9: Sign C Ben Wallace to Veteran Minimum Deal ($1.3 Million)

#10: Sign SF/PF Brian Scalabrine to a Veteran Minimum Deal ($1.3 Million)

* Mid-level Exception split into two

Resulting 2010-2011 Boston Celtics Roster

PG – Rajon Rondo/Shaun Livingston/Avery Bradley

SG – Ray Allen /Tony Allen/Avery Bradley

SF – Paul Pierce/Travis Outlaw/Brian Scalabrine

PF – Kevin Garnett/Glen Davis/Luke Harangody

C – Brad Miller/Ben Wallace

Injured:  Kendrick Perkins – C

Retired:  Rasheed Wallace – PF/C

Synopsis: There are a ton of different angles to take, this is just one possibility.  The above roster would be deep, more athletic and a championship contender. And after 2010-2011, the C's would have $34.36 Million in expiring contracts heading into 2011-2012 and an additional $24.739 Million in expiring deals before the 2012-2013 season begins.  That kind of payroll situation could lead to some quick and impressive rebuilding, spearheaded by a franchise Point Guard entering his prime.
