From Integration to Inspiration: Crowley names school after Billy Baylor
Crowley ISD is opening a new elementary school named after Billy Baylor, one of the first Black students to integrate the district in 1965. Baylor, now 74, endured racism and hostility as a teen but remained committed to education and community. The new Baylor Elementary honors his legacy and aims to teach students lessons in tolerance, forgiveness, and resilience.
