First-time nominees Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker and Bad Company will also be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class included Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, the late Jimmy Buffett and A Tribe Called Quest, among others.
Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band and Peter Frampton have been named to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Ten of the 15 nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are on the ballot for the first time, including Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Kravitz, Oasis, O'Connor, Osbourne and Sade.
The ceremony's strong representation of women this year comes not long after the hall removed Rolling Stone co-founder Jann Wenner from its board of directors.
