DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman is found dead, in a running car, at a motel next to Dallas Love Field Airport. Now police are busy working to find her killer.

The car, a red Dodge Charger, was parked next to several downstairs rooms at the Love Field Inn.

Police say the victim actually drover herself to the location and may have died inside the car. Right now officials don't know exactly how long, but they believe it could have been up to 12 hours before her body was discovered.

Inn resident Ella Jackson said, "I saw it [car] yesterday and I didn't think nothing of it… with the windshield wipers going and stuff like that."

Members of Dallas Fire Rescue and Dallas police were called to the Inn just after midnight – when someone noticed the woman slumped over in the driver's seat. She had been shot.

Several people at the Inn think the woman had been parked in the spot since noon Monday. One witness told detectives they saw a person exit the driver's side of the car; another described hearing a bang shortly after the car arrived.

But apparently the activity in and near the car wasn't anything that stood out. "I passed it three or four times but you couldn't see in the car. So, I didn't think nobody was in there," Jackson said. "I just thought whoever it was was out here visiting somebody. And then this morning I wake up with one of my neighbors told me what happened."

The Love Field Inn is a short-term and extended stay motel that has lots of travelers and long-term residents.

Investigators still have not identified the woman killed or given any information about a possible motive for the shooting or the search for suspects.
