Slightly Cooler Weather Ahead
A cold front come through the metroplex just before the lunch hour today. Highs reached to 93° at DFW just around noon then dropped a few degrees thanks to the veering winds. A warm southwest wind started this morning , low's stayed in the 70's. Gusty winds through the morning pushed them into the 90's by mid-day, then turned to the northwest and lessened.
The front didn't reach Waco till the end of the day. Highs reached to 105° there, smashing the record high for this date by three degrees. It reached 100° at Hillsboro and 98° in Cleburne. That's a warm day for late September and the gusty southwest winds have kept the southern counties under a RED FLAG WARNING until 7pm.
COOLER WEATHER AHEAD...FOR A DAY
This front and north winds will allow for a much cooler night. Under clear skies the lows should reach down into the 50's in our northern counties and in the low 60's in the metro. Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 80's in most parts, the warm air stays just to our south, Hillsboro and Palestine should reach close to the mid-90's for Monday.
MOSTLY DRY AND WARM WEEK
Tuesday though Friday we'll have afternoon highs in the low 90's and lows around 70 degrees. The typical temperatures this time of year are 85/64 so ABOVE normal numbers continue here in early fall. Rain chances also stay rather small. A stationary front to our south might fire up some rain late Wednesday and Thursday but we put the chances at a mere 10%-20% and most of that will stay southwest of the metro.
COOLER TO START NOVEMBER
A cold front comes through here on Thursday, this sets up some cooler weather for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday highs should stay in the mid to low 80's. And I know this sounds like a cool down but it is merely a drop to "typical" temperatures for the first weekend of November.
