Edging Closer to Big Rains Next Week
SPLASH 'N' DASH SHOWERS EACH DAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND…WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN & STORMS EARLY NEXT WEEK
As forecast, we've had a few tiny showers develop this afternoon over parts of Dallas & Collin counties. These showers will be racing to the northeast and not linger in any given neighborhood very long. We're not expecting any severe weather either. Otherwise, the weather in North Texas will remain humid and mainly cloudy..with breezy & warm afternoons.
Our big weather pattern change arrives next week as a powerful upper level low moves in the southwestern United States and then slogs our way Monday & Tuesday. This system will drag a cold front slowly through North Texas as well. All of these ingredients will lead to more widespread rain and thunderstorms, especially Monday & Tuesday. There appears there will be enough instability and spin in the atmosphere for some severe weather as well. In addition, because this system looks to move slowly, we could also have some heavy rainfall in North Texas leading to possible flooding next week. We'll be watching this one unfold closely.
