Canine Companions is shaping the next generation of service dogs, and Aikman is already proving he’s a standout. At just under 5 months old, he shows off impressive progress in this week’s episode.
Canine Companions visited the studio with Aikman, a young service‑dog‑in‑training who’s mastering foundational skills like sitting, settling, and staying. Trainers from FMC Carswell and Canine Companions say he’s progressing well and, once fully trained, will be matched with a veteran, child, or adult with a disability to help them live more independently.
A service‑dog trainee is making steady strides this week, as handlers report that Aikman is growing fast and adapting well to his structured prison‑based training program while spending weekends learning to relax and socialize at home.
