Alex Sanz

Alex Sanz is a veteran journalist and managing editor of CBS Atlanta.

He works closely with journalists across the newsroom to deliver original reporting and compelling, high-impact storytelling across broadcast, digital and streaming platforms. He also oversees the station's coverage of the 2026 midterm elections.

Before joining CBS Atlanta, Sanz served as deputy managing editor and politics director at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where he oversaw a major expansion of the publication's politics coverage. He also appeared regularly on CNN as a political analyst and commentator.

Sanz spent more than a decade at The Associated Press, serving in a variety of leadership and reporting roles. His positions included global news manager, where he oversaw news coverage across all formats and platforms; deputy director of newsgathering; and correspondent for Associated Press Television News, the international television division of The Associated Press.

Earlier in his career, Sanz worked in television newsrooms across the United States as a reporter, correspondent and anchor.

He serves as vice president of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter and is an alumnus of the Media Transformation Challenge, a fellowship for senior news executives formerly known as the Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
