NATO to Russia: Withdraw from Ukraine border

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg met Tuesday with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Brussels amid increasing concerns over Russia's buildup of forces along the Ukrainian border, including in occupied Crimea. At a joint press conference, Stoltenberg called the amassing of 80,000 troops "unjustified" and asked that Russia "deescalate immediately." French President Francois Hollande will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Wednesday afternoon, and then Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi Thursday before flying to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. All this follows Hollande’s meetings in Washington Tuesday, where President Obama offered solidarity, but not much else. Chip Reid reports.

Russia and Turkey are trying to ease tensions after a Turkish jet shot down a Russian warplane. Turkey says the Russian jet strayed about a mile into its airspace and was there for only 17 seconds when it was fired on by a Turkish F-16. One of the Russian pilots was rescued and returned safely to base, but Russia says the other pilot was killed by ground fire. Holly Williams reports from Istanbul.
