It's been a dry, sunny and pleasant week ahead of a wet weekend. But we'll have our final dry day on Friday with increasing clouds later in the day ahead of our next weathermaker, which is set to bring scattered showers and storms this weekend.
A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect for Sunday, Aug. 18 as storms that could bring heavy downpours head to the Philadelphia area. While that system holds off Hurricane Ernesto out in the Atlantic Ocean, Ernesto will still churn up the ocean water at the Jersey Shore and the Delaware beaches this weekend, with potential for high surf and rip currents. Meteorologist Tammie Souza breaks down the forecast.

Thursday and Friday will be sunny and warm again across the Delaware Valley. Heading into the weekend, the humidity ramps up and the Poconos and Philadelphia area have a better chance for storms and showers. And while Ernesto stays offshore, the Jersey Shore could see some rough surf and rip current threats early next week.
