Casino revenue is down. Casinos are closing in Atlantic City, while new ones are opening in Maryland and Massachusetts. Yet New York is just now getting into the game, with more than a dozen groups lining up to open upstate casinos.
Sunday is the last day for gaming at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Monday, Revel will close its hotel during the day and the casino overnight.
More than 470 of the 2,000-plus workers at Atlantic City's Showboat Casino Hotel have found new jobs with other casinos owned by its parent company.
The Showboat will close Sunday followed by the Revel on Monday with the Trump Plaza slated to close in mid-September affecting nearly 6,000 workers.
