Sunny, warm Sunday in Philadelphia area with air quality alert in effect for select Pennsylvania counties
Grab the sunglasses and sunscreen; another beautiful day is ahead. Highs will range from the mid to upper 80s under sunny skies. Best of all will be the low humidity!
There is a code orange air quality alert through this evening for southeastern Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia. Sensitive groups, including the elderly, small children and anyone with respiratory problems, should spend time indoors if possible.
Sunday night will be clear and cool in the upper 50s to low 60s. Next week, the heat and humidity return with another heat wave.
Monday, the 90s return for much of the area. Every day next week will be in the low to mid-90s, and by Tuesday, higher humidity will creep back into the region with heat indices (feels-like temperatures) between 90 and 100.
Showers and storms return Wednesday afternoon and evening ahead of a cold front approaching from the west. That front stalls over the region, creating a 30% chance for isolated showers and storms Thursday through Saturday. However, much of the time, skies will be partly to mostly sunny.
FYI: Our normal high for Aug. 10 is 87 and normal low is 69. The record high/low for today is 98, set in 1949 and 2001, and 54 set in 1964.

Stay ocean aware, there is a moderate rip current risk today. Swim only at beaches with a lifeguard and in areas designated by the lifeguards.
Water temperatures are in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
In the tropics, we are watching a wave off the coast of Africa that has a 70% chance of developing into a named storm in the next seven days.
Forecast models are trending toward a westerly track toward the Caribbean and Gulf. It is too early to say if this will affect the United States later in the month, but it is definitely worth watching. If it does reach tropical status, the storm name will be "Erin."
