Officials: Man Arrested For 2 Daycare Burglaries In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police say they have arrested 51-year-old Michael Harris for two burglaries inside daycare centers.
Investigators say the first was earlier this month at Arch Day Care Center in the Olney section of Philadelphia.
Officials say on Tuesday, August 2, officers assigned to the 35th District responded to a radio call for a burglary report at 151 E. Roosevelt Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers say they met with the complainant who reported that an unknown person had broken the side window and gained entry; ransacking the office.
According to authorities, nothing appeared to be missing.
The second incident happened on Monday, at Diverse Little Minds Learning Academy in Hunting Park.
Officers say they responded to a call at 3904 Germantown Avenue, where the victim said she noticed that an unknown person had entered the property through an open 2nd floor bathroom window.
In this robbery, officials say a red book bag containing a first-aid kit, Bluetooth radio, and a green t-shirt were taken. The stolen items reportedly have a total value of $150.
Harris turned himself in and has been charged with burglary, criminal trespassing and related offenses. He is also suspected of committing an additional 16 burglaries in the Northwest Division.
