Elderly Dies Following Fire In East Germantown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An 80-year-old man has died following a fire in the city's East Germantown section. Flames broke out at a residence on East Logan Street just before 10 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters found the man unconscious in the kitchen.

He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

"We were neighbors, we were really good friends, he was really nice guy. He always gave my son candy and stuff when we would walk by. I'm really upset because he was an older man and he had a nice little dog and would come out in the yard every single morning," Evanne Jacquet said.

The man's name has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
