Children's Hospital Hosts a "Kids Come First" Health Care Summit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former US Senate majority leader Bill Frist was the keynote speaker today at a pediatric health care summit organized by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Frist, a physician himself (above), talked about whether Congress may undo many items in the health care bill.

Children's Hospital CEO Dr. Steven Altschuler convened leaders from more than 20 children's hospitals around the country for what was called a "Kids Come First Summit" in Philadelphia:

"The biggest issue is Medicaid and its impact on children's health care."

Altschuler says that's because Medicaid accounts for well over 50 percent of all insurance coverage for children.

Frist expects Republicans to regain a majority this election year in the House but not the Senate.  He says that will result in more rhetoric, but the GOP will not be able to repeal health care reform all together:

"There could be some defunding, because Congress does have the purse strings."

Frist expects slowed funding as a growing number of Republican governors will plead to Washington that, because of state budget problems, the country can't afford all components of the health care reform bill.

He also expects President Obama to adjust his left-leaning political bearings:

"Most of the people listening to us right now reject having a left country when it's center-right."

Frist says Obama could follow the same center-left course as former president Bill Clinton.
