Charges Unlikely In Case of 4-Year-Old Who Brought Drugs To Phila. School

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia authorities now say it is unlikely any charges will be filed in connection with the disturbing case of a four-year-old boy who showed up at an East Falls elementary school earlier this week with a pocketful of cash and drugs (see related story).

Police say the Pre-K student at Thomas Mifflin School had $173 in cash and several bags of cocaine when he was searched at the school.

But during investigation, authorities say, the little boy gave several conflicting stories to police about how he got the money and the drugs, and who else might have been involved.

Based on all the factors, including the child's age, authorities do not expect to charge any adults in the case.

A source says DHS is now involved, and the boy is currently with relatives.

After the drugs and money were found on Tuesday, the classroom was evacuated briefly to ensure the safety of the children.
