The papers were filed in federal court in Brooklyn by Team Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Wilpon on Friday.

Cuddyer, 35, would fill one of the Mets' two glaring holes (corner outfielder). The veteran right fielder would likely push Curtis Granderson and his weak arm to left field.
Long, who won a World Series with the Bombers in 2009, was fired by the Yankees earlier this month.
