The New York Football Giants not only lost a football game in Philadelphia, they also lost two key contributor with season-ending injuries. On Tuesday, the team officially placed wide receiver Victor Cruz and cornerback Trumaine McBride on the injured reserve list.
Cruz had surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. McBride, who had been the nickel corner since Walter Thurmond was injured in Week 2, had surgery to repair a fractured thumb.
From here on, it has to be out of sight, out of mind. Immediate affairs preclude sentimentality over a much-loved comrade.

Coach Tom Coughlin said Monday that Cruz will need surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. He did not know when the surgery would be performed or the length of the rehabilitation.
The diagnosis, a ruptured patellar tendon, more than ends Cruz's season. It puts his career in jeopardy.
A total collapse would have been tough enough for the Giants to swallow. But to do so against a division rival, and lose WR Victor Cruz for the season with a torn patellar tendon on top of it?
