Weston High School In Connecticut Plagued By Surge In Sexting
WESTON, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Connecticut this week were investigating what has been described as a sexting outbreak at Weston High School.
As WCBS 880's Monica Miller reported, officials said dozens of students have been taking naked photos of themselves with their cellphones and distributing them on social media.

Weston School Supt. Colleen Palmer told the Connecticut Post that the school district has been working with police, who said most of the pictures are of girls. They have been shared on Snapchat, an app that allows users to send and receive photos that disappear within seconds.
But other apps can be used to save the photos before they disappear, the newspaper reported.
Possessing or sharing pornographic images of a minor is illegal. In some jurisdictions, it can result in child pornography charges, and anyone convicted may be required to register as a sex offender.
It was unclear Thursday whether any arrests would be made.
The school held an assembly about the legal ramifications of sexting this week, and counseling has been made available.
