Watch Live: NYPD gives details on officer-involved shooting on Brooklyn Bridge

NYPD officials are holding a news conference to discuss an officer-involved shooting that happened Friday on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Police posted on social media that there was ongoing activity just before 6 a.m. around the Brooklyn-bound portion of the bridge in Manhattan.

The FDNY said they received a call reporting a person trying to jump off the bridge. EMS personnel responded and said they had a patient with a gunshot wound, according to firefighters.

The person was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, fire officials said. 

People were advised to avoid the area while officers conducted an investigation.

Traffic was backed up all morning due to the incident. Video from Chopper 2 showed one lane closed for more than four hours. The bridge has since reopened. 

The details surrounding the shooting are unclear. It is unknown if anyone was hurt.
