Two New Jersey Colleges Warned By Accreditation Board
UNION, NJ (WCBS 880) - Essex County College in Newark and Kean University in Union have been warned by the regional organization which grants accreditation for not having quality systems to track if school and student goals are being met.

"It's no surprise because we have known since 2001," says Kean University physics associate professor James Castiglione, who is also president of Kean's federation of teachers. "There are some very serious potential consequences for students."
If the Middle States Commission on Higher Education does not re-up the schools' accreditation, students cannot get financial aid, and their credits won't transfer to accredited schools.
Both Essex and Kean have until March of 2012 to fix their problems.
