Commute In Tri-State Area Still Complicated By Aftermath Of Irene
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Some commuters throughout the Tri-State area are still dealing with less than ideal mass transit service thanks to flooding and damage from Irene.

Though the situation has improved for the most part, many are still coping with complications.

Metro-North:
Commuters taking Metro-North service will find that regular weekday service has resumed on:
- the Harlem Line (to and from Southeast)
- the Hudson Line
- New Haven Main Line
- Pascack Valley Line
Busing is in effect on the Upper Harlem Line (Southeast to Wassaic). Buses will run on the train schedule.
Service is still suspended on the New Haven Branch Lines, including New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury Branch Line.
Port Jervis service is suspended indefinitely due to "catastrophic damage" from Irene, the MTA said. The damage includes three washout locations, each 1,000 feet long, near Sloatsburg. Also in that area, 400-feet of track is washed out. The MTA says it is exploring busing options, but they are made complicated by road closures.

Long Island Rail Road:
The MTA said full service has been restored along the following lines, including:
- Far Rockaway
- Babylon
- Port Washington
- Hempstead
- Ronkonkoma
- West Hempstead
- West of Huntington on the Port Jefferson line
Service remains suspended
- between Port Jefferson and Huntington
- between Greenport and Ronkonkoma
- Long Beach branch
- Oyster Bay branch
- Montauk branch
- Diesel train service to Hunterspoint Avenue or Long Island City is not operating

New Jersey Transit also announced that most rail service has resumed.
- Buses, Newark Light Rail & HBLR are operating on a weekday schedule.
- River Line is operating on a weekend schedule
- Wayne/Route 23 Transit Center remains closed
- Cross-honoring is in effect, including PATH and private carrier buses
