Trump Loses Round In Court Over Jones Beach Plan

WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) -- Donald Trump has lost the latest round to get the state to pay up to $500 million in damages for delays in the construction of his planned banquet hall at Jones Beach.

A midlevel appeals court has affirmed a lower court finding that the developer failed to prove the state violated its contract when it rejected his bid for a basement at the catering hall.

The state had rejected the basement because it said it didn't comply with fire and building codes in a coastal floodplain.

Trump claims that the state signed a contract without complaining about the basement. Trump attorney Steven Schlesinger vowed to appeal.

The state said it was pleased with the court's decision.
